Neil Parish has resigned over the Commons porn scandal

Neil Parish resigned as an MP after admitting that he had watched pornography twice in the House of Commons.

The Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton said he first visited the site by accident after looking at tractors online, but then returned to it for the second time deliberately in a “moment of madness”.

The 65-year-old chairman of an elected committee was removed from the Conservative Party on Friday after two colleagues said they saw him watching the explicit content of his mobile phone in the municipal hall and hearing an elected committee.

In an interview with BBC South West, he said: “The situation was that, funny as it was, I was looking at tractors, so I came across another website with something very similar and looked at it for a while, which I shouldn’t have done.

“My crime – my biggest crime – is that I entered a second time, and on purpose.

“He was sitting there waiting to vote on the side of the hall.”

He added: “What I did was absolutely wrong. I was wrong, I was stupid, I lost consciousness.”
