This was announced after four patients in its 5th Western Unit became infected with COVID while in hospital
A new outbreak of COVID-19 has been announced at the Guelph General Hospital.
On Tuesday afternoon, Guelph General announced COVID-19 in its 5th Western Ward after four patients became infected with COVID while in hospital. The decision to declare the epidemic was made after consultation with Wellington Dufferin Guelph (WDG) Public Health.
The hospital said several steps had been taken to prevent the virus from spreading. These steps include; placing all patients in the ward with appropriate additional precautions; COVID testing of all patients in the ward; closing the block for visitors, except out of sympathy; and increasing cleaning, including frequent cleaning of high-touch and high-traffic areas.
