Ontario health officials reported 1,676 hospitalizations with COVID-19 on Saturday, along with 13 additional deaths.
Of these patients, 188 were treated in intensive care.
The majority of people in the intensive care unit – about 64 percent – were admitted to COVID-19, while the remaining 36 percent tested positive after being admitted to other diseases.
This brings the total number of people in Ontario who have died from COVID-19 to 12,825. Three of the most recent deaths have been reported in long-term care patients.
With just over 16,800 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the health ministry says the province’s positive results rate now stands at about 13.8 percent.
Officials registered an additional 2,749 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, although with restrictions on testing, that number is considered an understatement.
