Klopp responds to Guardiola’s latest praise for Liverpool
Pep Guardiola says Jurgen Klopp is wasting his time groaning about the match schedule – and said moving the Maldives to an easy life is the only solution.
Liverpool have tried to move the start of Saturday’s lunch to Newcastle after they were in the semi-final of the Champions League against Villarreal on Wednesday. Klopp accused the Premier League and BT Sport of sabotaging Liverpool’s quest for the four with a starting time at 12.30 in St. James Park.
But Guardiola said the title contender, Klopp, would accomplish nothing with his remarks, and joked that the only solution was to move 5,500 miles to the idyllic Indian Ocean destination, a favorite retreat of the City boss. “I always sympathize with Liverpool’s worries,” said Guardiola, his tongue tense.
Steven Gerrard reacted to the fact that Jurgen Klopp signed a two-year extension of his contract with Liverpool. Liverpool get an increase in the title as Jesse Marsh gives an “annoying” promise to Leeds against Man City
“How many times have we discussed what happened to us and I said, ‘I don’t want to talk about this?’ Nothing will change. It will not change because the operators are thinking about what they need to do to get more viewers.
“If I’m not happy, I’m going home and I’m not the manager of Manchester City. I go to another league in the Maldives, the League of the Maldives, and I play one game a week and I’m so comfortable under the coconuts. It would be so perfect, but it’s not. Do you play at 12.30? I’m sorry about Liverpool, but I’m not involved.
“Of course I understand, but what can I say? We will not solve the problem. I have said many times that Sir Alex Ferguson was the most important icon in the history of English football and he complained about it when he was a teenager. Nothing will change, so don’t ask me. Go to the Premier League, broadcast and ask the reason. We played in Madrid against Atletico and three days later we played at Wembley in the semi-final for the FA Cup against Liverpool.
Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola enjoy a friendly rivalry
“Chelsea played on Tuesday and could have played on Saturday, but they played on Sunday. Do you think they think about it? No, because next Tuesday Liverpool will play against Manchester United. Everyone has their own business to defend. So we adapt. If they say play Saturday, we play Saturday. If they say we play Tuesday, we play Tuesday. Thursday? We will play on Thursday. Whatever they want, no problem. ”
If Liverpool win in Newcastle, City will be two points behind Klopp’s team by the time they start at Leeds on Saturday night. Despite pressure on City players to end the title race, Guardiola said they would not drown, insisting they knew what to do.
“Sometimes it seems like only the managers know what we’re playing for, but the players know,” Guardiola said. “They know better than I do. What I want in this period is to arrive as fresh as possible in our minds, souls and feet. This is the most important. Train today, go home with the family, good lunch, good dinner. Then go to Leeds and try to win the game. They have been here many times. These players, I know them. “
