Police were called to the house after a dog injured a man – only to find the animal dead when they arrived.
Officers were called to New Lane in Brightmett, Bolton, around 1:50 p.m. Friday (April 15) in response to a report of a man injured by a dog. The dog was fatally injured in the accident.
The man’s injuries are not thought to be serious.

He has since been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. A woman was also arrested on suspicion of assault under Section 18 and crimes with dangerous dogs. The man was released on bail and the woman was released for investigation, police said.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called around 1.50pm on Friday, April 15, to report a man injured by a dog in New Lane, Bolton.
“During the incident, the dog received a fatal injury before the police arrived. A man was arrested on suspicion of criminal harm, and a woman was arrested on suspicion of assault under Section 18 and dangerous crimes with dogs.
“Since then, the man has been released on bail and the woman has been released on bail. The investigation is ongoing.”
