The officers who were on patrol were identified by two men on Bishport Avenue, Hartcliff, around 10:50 a.m. Sunday, who say they were injured by two dogs.
The two men who were injured went to hospital for treatment, while officers, including armed officers, conducted investigations in the area to try to find the dogs.
However, the dogs have not yet been found.
Avon and Somerset police described the two dogs as “large, aggressive dogs that roam free” and said they should not approach if spotted.
One is light brown with spots and is injured, and the other is dark brown in color.

“At this point, we would like to assure the public that we have not received any other reports of injuries related to these two dogs today.
They later added: “We are grateful for the patience of the public while dealing with the dog incident in Hartcliff.
“Two men were injured by dogs and went to hospital. Investigations are underway to identify the owner (s) of the dogs.”
