Preston Fire: 12 fire engines are currently battling a huge fire at the former Odeon cinema and Tokyo Jo nightclub

People are advised to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed.

The photos show streams of black smoke that swirl and can be seen from miles away.

A local said: “I could see it up close to The Range (London Road) and there were a lot of fire engines along the way.”

This is the second fire, as a deliberate fire damaged the orphanage St. Class II Joseph downtown last weekend.

Preston City Council leader Matthew Brown said the recent fires in the city center were “very disturbing” after the ongoing fire tonight.

He wrote: “The recent fires in the center of Preston are very disturbing, which suggests a possible trend. It was raised by senior members and officers from both the fire and police services. We will continue to support our emergency services to deal effectively with the issue. “

The Tokyo Joe collection page on Facebook posted: “Shocking scenes on Church Street tonight … the building formerly known as Tokyo Jo’s and Odeon … is on fire.

“It’s such a sad day … but Tokyo Joe’s anniversary gathering will take place as planned … another reason to remember and celebrate this once iconic club.”

People say they saw the fire from miles away and turned to social media to share shocking photos and videos of the fire. There is also a large police presence on the scene.
