Sir Rod praises the queen before the concert
But the royal family may face competition in honor betting from Sir Rod Stewart, one of the performers at the platinum party at the palace, who said he thought of the queen “almost like a sister”.
The singer paid tribute to the monarch before Saturday’s Platinum Party at the Palace on the occasion of the anniversary.
He is one of dozens of performers at the concert in front of Buckingham Palace, along with Diana Ross, Duran Duran and Sam Ryder, the star of this year’s Eurovision.
Explaining what the platinum anniversary meant to him, Sir Rod said: “It is a pride to be British. This is sophistication, romance.
“I grew up with this woman. I was seven when she came to the throne, so she has always been a part of my life and the fact that I have met her several times makes it even more important to me.
“She was such a big part of my life, almost like a sister. She has always been in the background of my life. “
