NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WSMV) – A professor of engineering at Vanderbilt University was among six passengers killed in a helicopter crash in the West Virginia mountains earlier this week.
According to the WSAZ in Huntington, West Virginia, a Vietnam-era Bell UH-1B Huey helicopter took off from Logan County Airport, carrying six helicopter enthusiasts on a tour. The retro helicopter crashed shortly before 5 pm on Route 17, approximately 5.5 miles northeast of the airport.
One of the passengers on this flight was 51-year-old Kevin Warren of Franklin, Tennessee. According to Vanderbilt’s website, Warren was an associate professor of electrical engineering at the university. He joined the Vanderbilt Faculty of Engineering in 2003.
Warren received a master’s degree in chemistry and electrical engineering from Vanderbilt, as well as a doctorate. in electrical engineering.
Warren was also a certified flight instructor at Wingman Flight Academy in Dixon, Tennessee, according to his LinkedIn account.
