Midnight is approaching and a place in the World Cup

It’s midnight here in Qatar, but no one is ready to leave the stadium … and that’s understandable.

A place has been set for the World Cup and everyone wants to witness the moment it is sealed for their team. Lots of nerves and nerves await them as players regroup just before the penalties decide who will return here in November – Faras Ghani at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.

We are heading for penalties! @Socceroos 🇦🇺 will be the target of @SeleccionPeru 🇵🇪.

Surprising change

Australia replaced Matt Ryan in the door with Andrew Redmain. This is a big call from Australian coach Graham Arnold. It was definitely done with penalties in mind, as Ryan showed no signs of injury.

Australia also attracted Goodwin to Behic.

Cueva can’t go on!

Moments after hitting too strong a pass in the hands of Australian goalkeeper Ryan, Cueva was pulled off the field and replaced by Alex Valera. This could be a blow for Peru, as Cueva was probably one of their penalty takers.

Now both coaches need to seriously consider who will take penalties.

Flores almost wins for Peru

Flores almost won twice for Peru. First, he made a good run, before playing quite unselfishly in the reduction to Cueva, whose shot was not on target. Lapadula felt he had to be elected.

Then, two minutes later, Flores met a cross with a header. He defeats Ryan, but is unlucky to see his effort hit the crossbar. Escape from Australia.

0-0 is after the end of the first period of overtime

The game still looks ready for penalties, but since both teams are tiring, a single moment of brilliance can win it for both sides. Tune in, we’ll see punches in the second period of overtime.

Both groups of fans are understandably nervous.

100 min

Peru finally has its first shot on target

Peru finally made its first shot on goal, but Flores’ effort was too easy for Ryan, who made a comfortable save.

Perhaps the closest goal any team has ever scored, Behic almost scored a stunning goal that would have given Australia the lead in the 84th minute.

Peru is more restrained

The game seems to be scheduled for penalties, but Peru seems to have more urgency in their attack. Cueva could do better with her crossover aimed at Flores, which was collected by Ryan.

Australia stepped up as Karacic replaced Atkinson.

90 min

Extra time is running

As he did in the first half, Lapadula started for Peru. Tense moments are ahead for both teams. One will soon qualify for the World Cup.

Finishes 0-0. We are scheduled for extra time

There is nothing between the parties as we go into the sequels. The result is an honest reflection of what happened in the game. Peru’s game did not go according to plan, as obviously Australia had better chances. Of Australia’s 10 shots, two were on target. None of Peru’s five strikes were on target. The Peruvians will have to score in overtime or penalties if they want to win.

More excitement than Australian support

Most of the Peruvian fans are on their feet … they seem quite worried. A sigh of relief after the Australians failed to take a free kick and are extremely disappointed that Peru missed all the chances. More excitement is now being shown by Australian fans as they approach the goal … definitely more spring in the camp than in the first half – Usaid Sidiki at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.

Both teams are already showing signs of fatigue, as Australia was very close to leading in the last 10 minutes. Australia is looking to spark a bit in their attack, as Jamie McLaren is in Leki’s place.

There will be a three minute break.

Peruvian fans continue to do so – noisy and powerful

Meanwhile, Australian fans seem a bit depressed … maybe overwhelmed by noisy and powerful Peruvian fans? Australia managed to shoot, which was JUST far from the target … but this seems to have pushed Peru’s fans even more!

We have our first shot on target, but it is average

Khrustik is on target but unsuccessful. His shot is weak and does not create problems for Galez in a goal for Peru.

Peru makes its second substitution in the game, with Sergio Pena being replaced by Pedro Aquino.

There is very little time left and we will see some nervous moments in the rest of this game.

Australia 0-0 Peru

The extra time seems likely

There are just over 15 minutes of normal time left. Neither side has shown significantly stronger offensive intentions than in the first half. Peru’s fans remain energetic and noisy, but we have not yet seen our first shot on goal or any clear chances.

Australia is making a tactical change

Australia has called for a penalty after claiming that Boyle’s cross was made by a Peruvian defender. The game continues. Meanwhile, the Australians are also making their first substitution, as Aver Mobile is replacing Mitchell Duke. This move sees Lecce replace Duke as the man of Australia ahead.

Peru is making the first change

Peru made its first substitution of the evening when DC United winger Edison Flores came out, replacing Andre Carrillo, who did not do well. They will hope that Flores will inject some energy into their attack.

A Chilean who supports Australia

Usaid chases these fans tightly and quickly. He now has Australian fan Maria Jose, who said he thinks Australia is doing “quite well”, given all the support for Peru at the stadium.

Asked if Australia would win, she said “absolutely”.

Jose, who is Chilean, said she was moving to Australia to be with her fiancé in Melbourne and therefore her support for Socceroos.

Ryan to help Australia

Australian goalkeeper and captain Matt Ryan must come out to save a vital save when Pena sends a cross to Gonzalez. Ryan comes out as the Peruvian striker fails to control the ball properly. Minutes earlier, Mooy fired from the side of the door about 20 yards away.

“Breaking nerves” – the Peruvian praises the performance of Australia

Usaid talks to Peruvian fan Ana Sonia Venatea, who is “very nervous” because the Australians are defending “very well”.

“They know better … because the Peruvians are very fast with the ball,” said the 51-year-old, who came with her family from Dubai for the match.

“It was so annoying in the first half. There are so many Peruvians here, all hoping the team wins. Australians are so organized – if we lose, I’ll be pretty depressed for a while. “

The first half was disciplined

Atkinson of Australia was the only player to see yellow for a wild challenge against Cueva. Neither side can afford a red card in this vital game.

Australian fan hopes for “the best”

Socceroos fan Charles Webb says it’s hard to say who will win and hopes for the “best”.

“It’s a knockout game. Anything can happen. Both teams will do their best, “said the 63-year-old, who lives in the Qatari capital Doha. He added that it felt like a “home game for the Peruvians”, pointing to the large number of fans from the South American nation: “Win or lose, I’m here for a good time. At least that’s how far we’ve come. Italy is not even at the World Cup!

So far there are no shots at the target from both sides

The game so far has been physical. Of the Australian strikers, Boyle and Mui are the only two to threaten Peru’s defense. In addition, South Americans have effectively dealt with the opposition’s threat.

Peru has only two strikes without any in the goal. They will hope to improve this in the second half. Although they have 48% possession of the ball compared to 52% in Peru, the Australians have six shots without a single goal.

Australia will have to slow down Advinkula’s pace, which will be vital to the Peruvian cause in the second half.

It’s half time at half time.

It was flat and it was a fun start of 45 minutes. Both teams had a fair share of half the chances, but will have to be more clinical in the last third of the second half.

Cooling technology does the job

It really doesn’t feel like 32C (90F) in the stadium … well, unless you’re one of the 22 players who go all in the middle. The organizers …
