Quebec is reversing policy and making the flu shot free for all residents

MONTREAL – This year, Quebec is making the flu shot free for all residents.

The injections were free only for certain high-risk groups and for health workers.

Health officials said today that the government has changed its stance due to high levels of influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and the novel coronavirus circulating in the province.

The Department of Health says the flu vaccine will be available for free to anyone who wants it from today.

The department says it encourages certain groups to get a flu shot as soon as possible, including people over 60, people with chronic illnesses and some pregnant women, as well as those who live with high-risk people.

Families with children under six months and health care workers are also encouraged to get the vaccine.
