Queen uses buggy to visit color show in Chelsea after months of mobility problems United Kingdom news

The queen was divorced around the Chelsea flower show in a buggy for the first time after suffering from mobility problems.

The 96-year-old monarch attended the event in West London today before it was opened to the public tomorrow.

Buckingham Palace said: “Adjustments have been made to the Queen’s comfort.”

This is believed to be the first time in nearly a decade that the Queen has used a buggy on a formal engagement.

She wore a bright pink dress, complete with pearls and a flower brooch. She arrived around 5:35 p.m. and was shown about 10 gardens using the vehicle – including a visit to a floral exhibition to mark her 70-year reign.

The Platinum Jubilee arrangement is covered on both sides with an assortment of local British tree branches with connecting inner shelves lined with 70 terracotta pots planted with lily of the valley, one of the monarch’s favorite plants.

Another installation aims to transport visitors to one of the Queen’s favorite places, with a canopy of flowers, including fresh delphiniums imitating flowers and planting the Scottish landscape near the mansion of Balmoral Castle of the Royal Family in Aberdeenshire.

In the Grand Pavilion of the show, the monument is surrounded by a photographic exhibition of the Queen, who attends the show throughout her reign.

The queen, who admitted in an audience in February that she could not move, is just 10 days from the start of her high-ranking jubilee celebrations.

Other members of the royal family – the Earl of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra – are also touring the show at Chelsea Royal Hospital in London.

The show has returned to its traditional May slot, with gardens focusing on wildlife and well-being. Celebrities and members of the royal family see for the first time the event of the Royal Horticultural Society today.

Among the exhibition gardens is a recreation of a wetland for beaver, complemented by a beaver hut, a dam, streams and natural planting of wildflowers.

The TV chef later wrote on Twitter his thanks to other people who helped her after her fall, and said: “She is doing well and everything is fine.”

Show returns to slot for May

The Chelsea Flower Show returns to its slot in May for the first time since 2019, after being canceled in 2020 and moved to September 2021 due to the pandemic.

Garden designer and TV presenter Joe Swift said it was nice to see the flower show return to May after last year’s September show.

“It was great for a one-off, and September was wonderful, it showed a different palette of plants and it works really well,” he said.

“I’m not sure you’d want it every year, so it’s nice to have it in May.”
