Raleigh, North Carolina – The Raleigh Police Department said on Saturday that a man shot and killed by police in southeastern Raleigh had thrown “incendiary weapons” believed to be Molotov cocktails at police vehicles and officers. before the shooting.

The shooting took place in the southeastern police district of Raleigh on Saturday afternoon.

Part of Rock Quarry Road was blocked 14 hours ago by a number of police units at the scene, not far from Southeast Raleigh High School.

Police said officers watched the suspect throw what they considered Molotov cocktails at police vehicles in the parking lot of the police station in the Southeast region of Raleigh.

Police said at least two cars were set on fire.

Raleigh Police Chief Estella D. Patterson said the suspect had been told to stop several times, but continued.

“The person kept throwing a lot of Molotov cocktails in the parking lot and eventually to our officers who were there, and eventually threw one at the officers who were right next to him,” Patterson said.

Then the officers fired their weapons. The suspect was shot several times.

Officers then provided CPR until the EMS arrived.

A total of 4 employees are involved – all are on administrative leave.

A video circulating on Facebook shows the consequences recorded in a stream.

The video shows at least one burning police car and several officers doing CPR to someone.

It is not known whether employees were injured during the incident.

Both the body cameras and the station cameras filmed the shooting.

Patterson said an internal investigation was under way, as well as an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation.
