Ralph Rangnik will be announced as Austria’s next manager, but will continue to play his advisory role at Manchester United until 2024.

The 63-year-old Rangnik replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the club in late November, agreeing to take over the team’s temporary leadership until the summer, before remaining in a consultative role for another two years.

However, the results were disappointing under Rangnik, with United currently sixth in the Premier League, six points behind Arsenal in fourth and last in the Champions League next season as the campaign draws to a close.

Ajax manager Eric ten Haag was recently named United’s permanent boss for next season, although the German, as planned, will still remain a consultant despite his new position until 2024.

Manchester United’s interim manager Ralph Rangnik has said he will always defend his players following suggestions that he has prepared a dossier for the club’s board and new manager Eric ten Haag.

However, Rangnik has not yet signed a contract with Austria and the final details are still being negotiated.

The Austrian Federation (ÖFB) will hold a meeting of the executive committee on Friday morning, when the potential appointment of Rangnik is expected to be formally approved by the board members, and a statement may follow shortly.

At the beginning of the month, OFB had to officially refuse to approach Ranknik due to their vacant management position.

The Austrian daily Kurier, which initially revealed the news of Rangnik’s appointment on Thursday, claims that sporting director Peter Schotel traveled to Manchester to offer him a chance to coach the national team.

Thursday, April 28, 7:00 p.m. Start 7:45 p.m.

“Explanation: There was no meeting between ÖFB sporting director Peter Schotel and Ralph Rangnik, Manchester United coach,” OFB wrote in its official Twitter account at the time.

Austria is looking for a new boss after Franco Foda resigned after their 2-0 defeat to Wales earlier this month, which denied them a place at the World Cup in Qatar.

United have yet to negotiate with Ranknik what the influence of the 63-year-old player at the club will be.
