Rapper A $ AP Rocky was detained on Wednesday morning at the Los Angeles International Airport in connection with a shooting in Hollywood last year, authorities said.
The performer, whose real name is Rakim Myers, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said on Wednesday.
Myers, 33, was wanted in connection with a shooting on November 6, 2021, after an escalating quarrel, authorities said. He is accused of firing a pistol at an acquaintance who suffered minor injuries and later sought medical help.
Myers and two other men ran after the shooting, police said.

The Mayers RCA Records publicist and lawyer did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
TMZ and NBC News were the first to announce the arrest and details of the shooting in 2021.
Myers was filmed days earlier in Barbados with Rihanna. The high-profile celebrity couple announced in January that they were expecting their first child together, although they did not reveal a date of birth.
Myers released his last studio album four years ago and, like Rihanna, became as famous for fashion trends as he was for music.
He was in the spotlight in 2019 after being detained for nearly a month in Sweden after a street brawl. He was found guilty of assault and sentenced to a “suspended sentence”, which did not mean an additional sentence in prison.
