Users sometimes have to dig deep into an old post and dig up any comments from the post. This task will be annoying for the user, as they will have to dig very deep, so Reddit is launching a series of updates that will make everything in the app searchable, whether it’s publications, users, conversations and most new comments.

Reddit users will now be able to search for comments using the search bar and can also filter the search to make the results more relevant. Before this new update, in order to search for a specific comment, the user will have to click on the post and review the answers to find that specific comment, but now with this feature the user will just have to enter the query he needs and just to set the filter to comments, so it will limit the results to show only comments. This change was made because when Reddit conducted a survey last year on what new features users want, it was the most sought after.

Now Reddit is also working to improve these search results, because nothing is ever perfect, and just because it works doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. Reddit is working on how to make the results more relevant to the original query.

They are working to make the results of the query less restrictive, which means that the results do not have to match 100% of the original query. Also using AI, the application will try to understand the intent behind the wording of the request so that the results can be improved. Last but not least, they will use the rankings. For example, if four different people click on the same post when searching for the same keyword, when the fifth searches for the same Reddit, it will put that post on top.
