Residents were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a house in Whitley Bay

A number of residents were taken to hospital after a fire at a home in Whitley Bay.

Firefighters were called to set fire to a property on Belmont Avenue around 9:34 a.m. Sunday, April 24, and spent nearly two hours fighting the blaze. The Tyne and Weir Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that there were “victims” after the incident who were given first aid on the spot before being taken by ambulance to Northumbria Emergency Hospital in Cramlington.

It is understandable that the wounded lived in the property, but the fire department was unable to confirm how many people were injured and what their condition was. Four fire engines from Biker and Tynmouth were present at the incident, along with medics from the Northeast Ambulance.
