AN ARBER, Michigan – A potential overturning of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Rowe v. Wade case could have many negative consequences at the University of Michigan, Board Chairman Jordan Acker said Sunday.
The 1973 ruling that legalized abortion could be overturned because of the expired majority opinion of the US Supreme Court stated that there was no constitutional right to abortion. Many Michigan Democrats fear that Roe’s repeal will trigger a 1931 U.S. law that makes any attempt to obtain a miscarriage a crime.
