Samsung’s rugged portable SSD T7 Shield offers durability and fast sustainable performance for creative professionals and users on the go

New credit card-sized external SSD delivers lightning-fast data transfer speeds in a fall-resistant, water- and dust-resistant design for indoor and outdoor content creation

Without compromising performance when transferring large files, the T7 Shield is ideal for recording and editing high-definition video

Samsung Electronics Canada today announced the launch of its latest external storage device, the T7 Shield Portable Solid State Drive (PSSD), which delivers exceptional performance and reliability in a durable credit card-sized design. The T7 Shield is the latest addition to the Samsung T7 Portable SSD family, which includes the T7, an everyday driver that delivers incredibly fast speeds in a sleek design, and the CES PSSD-award-winning T7 Touch[1] with built-in fingerprint sensor for improved data protection.

“When it comes to performance and durability, creative professionals and consumers need the confidence to keep on the go, knowing that their data is better protected, even if the device is dropped, exposed to water or dust or used in the heat. , ”Said Mary Peterson, Vice President, IT and Enterprise Solutions, Samsung Electronics Canada. “Offering wide compatibility, the T7 Shield supports a variety of devices, including a PC, Android smartphone and game console.

Durability with IP65 rating

The T7 Shield is Samsung’s most durable PSSD to date, making it ideal for outdoor content creators or travelers who need a data-rich experience without losing data from exposure to items or life accidents. Carefully designed by Samsung from the inside out, the T7 Shield is resistant to impact drops of up to three meters[2]while being IP65 certified as dustproof and waterproof[3]. Despite the new robust design, the T7 Shield is compact and lightweight, weighing just 98 grams.

Exceptional performance

T7 Shield provides a read speed of 1050 megabytes per second (MB / s) and a write speed of 1000 MB / s[4]which are incredibly fast transfer speeds currently available based on the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard[5]. It is approximately twice as fast as its predecessor, the T5, and up to 9.5 times faster than external hard drives (HDDs).[6]saving valuable time for consumers, digital creators and professionals.

Samsung has also optimized the inside and outside of the product by changing the surface material and improving the software in the T7 Shield to address the performance degradation and overheating that occur when transferring large files. Due to this change, there is no deterioration in performance, even when 2TB files are moved all at once, and heat generation is minimized, which helps to resolve the inconvenience that users may experience. This makes it possible to transmit data stably without a drop in performance[7], even when performing continuous data-intensive tasks such as high-quality video recording, editing, encoding and rendering. This alleviates concerns about inconsistent drive performance.

Wide compatibility and strong security

Designed to run on multiple devices, Samsung’s T7 Shield can store a large number of photos, games, and 4K and 8K videos, whether on a PC, iOS, smartphone (Android) or game console[8]. In addition, the T7 Shield has enhanced security (* 256-bit AES, Advanced Encryption Standard) with hardware encryption so that user data can be better protected even if the T7 shield is lost. It also provides access to Samsung’s Magician Software9, which allows users to conveniently manage the device.

Eco-conscious packaging

As with other Samsung portable SSD models, the T7 Shield uses a third of the tray’s packaging compared to previous generations, while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions during production through production efficiency.

Available in beige, black and blue to meet consumer preferences, the T7 Shield is available in 1TB and 2TB sizes, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The device comes with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable and includes a three-year limited warranty with manufacturer-recommended retail prices (MSRP) of $ 204.99 for 1TB and $ 369.99 for 2TB. The T7 Shield is available in Canada today. For more information, please visit.
