“Screams and shouts” were heard before the murder in an Internet cafe

A store clerk said she heard “screams and shouts” from an internet cafe in the city center, where a teenager was fatally injured yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a London Road café at around 5.50pm on Saturday after reports that an 18-year-old man had been “attacked”. The man was taken to a hospital in Royal Liverpool, where he was pronounced dead.

Today, Monument Place was sealed by police as detectives worked at Mobiles Junction & Internet Cafe. ECHO saw a forensic scientist showing photos of the detective’s scene.

A woman working nearby said: “I heard screams and shouts from the cafe. The next thing the police showed up. That’s all I know.” Other locals seemed confused by the incident, which took place in broad daylight.

There was a large police presence at the Royal Hospital last night. Police confirmed that this was due to the fact that the victim was taken there.

Speaking yesterday, Detective Chief Inspector Terry Davis said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that an 18-year-old man died after an incident in central Liverpool tonight (Saturday, April 16).

“We are at a very early stage of the investigation as we seek to establish what happened and who was involved.

“London Road would have been busy with people at the time of the incident, so I would ask anyone who was around tonight around 5:30 pm who saw or heard anything suspicious or could have filmed something significant on your mobile phone, camera and video surveillance camera to contact us as a matter of urgency. ”

Anyone who has witnessed the incident, or who has information that could help us with our inquiries, is asked to send a DM @MerPolCC, a “Merseyside Police Contact Center on Facebook” or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 786 of 16 April.
