Seven people were taken to hospital after a 401 collision on Toronto Highway

Part of Highway 401 in Scarborough was closed after a collision Sunday afternoon in which two people were seriously injured.

The accident happened in the eastern express lanes of the highway near Kennedy Road shortly after 4:15 p.m.

Toronto Fire said one person should be removed after the crash.

Seven people were transported to the hospital, paramedics in Toronto said. Two of them are in serious condition, but without danger to life.

Paramedics said the other five received minor injuries.

The cause of the collision is unknown.

All eastern express lanes on the highway have been closed on Warden Avenue due to the collision.
