Ten people were shot dead and two others were injured in a shooting at a shopping center in the South Carolina capital, which authorities said was not an accidental attack.
Three people who had firearms were initially detained in connection with Saturday afternoon’s shooting at the Columbiana Center, Colombian Police Chief W. H. Skip Holbrooke said.
Jewene M. Price, 22, has been charged with illegal carrying of a handgun, but further charges are pending, authorities said.
Two other men, who were not named, were also detained for questioning and released from police custody after it was established that they did not take part in the shooting.
Authorities seized a firearm linked to the incident. A preliminary review of ballistic evidence gathered at the scene shows that at least two different firearms were used by two suspects.

Authorities said there were no reports of deaths, but eight of the victims were taken to hospital.
Of those eight, two are in critical condition and six are in stable condition, Holbrooke said.
The victims ranged in age from 15 to 73, he said.
The mall was evacuated shop by store, and police urged anyone still sheltering inside to call 911 so authorities could find them.
Chief Skip Holbrooke was seen speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon after the shooting.

The mall was busy with buyers on Easter weekend on Saturday when a shooting broke out.
Workers from several shops clustered in the nearly empty parking lot on Saturday night said they did not hear or see anything during the shooting, but followed the mall’s warning system and were evacuated by police shortly afterwards.
They said they have been waiting for hours for police to let them in so they can get their car keys and personal belongings so they can leave.
“Today’s isolated, senseless act of violence is extremely upsetting and everyone’s thoughts are affected,” the Columbiana Center said in a statement.
“We are grateful for the prompt response and continued support of our security team and our law enforcement partners.”
