The provincial police is investigating after an 18-year-old man was seriously injured in an accident while being chased by police in Bowmanville early Saturday morning.
The Special Investigations Department said Durham police were called to Bowmanville Avenue and Northglen Boulevard around 3:30 a.m.
As they reacted, police spotted an interesting car on Bowmanville Avenue and followed.
SIU said the vehicle later hit a light standard in a square less than four kilometers from the original scene.
Three people in the vehicle were subsequently arrested by police, SIU reported. One of them was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The SIU says three investigators and two detectives have been appointed in the case.
