Skull & Bones test footage appears online

UPDATE 16:00 UK: Ubisoft today admitted a leak of skull and bone test footage and told fans to watch the horizon for official news.

A short clip of footage from the game was posted by Ubisoft on Twitter this afternoon, hours after the expired footage began circulating. More on all of this below.

ORIGINAL STORY 2.30 pm UK: Footage of Ubisoft’s unreleased pirated game Skull & Bones leaked.

Taken from the alpha test, a four-minute video with a tutorial has been uploaded to reddit, showing a detailed look at the game.

The game has been in development for a long time and has suffered major delays, so this expired footage offers a new chance to see what all the fuss is after its last show on E3 2018.

“You will start your journey as an outsider whose goal is to become the most scandalous pirate sailing on these waters,” the video explains.

This means raising your disgrace – essentially experience – by fulfilling contracts, researching, looting, and completing treasure hunts. The higher your disgrace, the more opportunities are available to you.

Before boarding, you will need to stock your ship with rations and cargo in nearby ports, as well as customize your character. As your disgrace grows, you will be able to create bigger and stronger ships with a unique style of play.

Ship battles seem to be a major part of the game, with the ability to board enemy ships offering greater rewards. The morale of the crew is depleted over time, especially through defeat, and they will revolt if morale is not restored (through food and drink, of course).

There’s also an element similar to Souls, with its constant online multiplayer, pirate players who can turn against you, and the ability to collect a lost load at the point of defeat (unless other players steal it).

There is also kraft, which is very Far Cry, while skinning animals and collecting raw materials.

There is still no release date for Skull & Bones and it is not clear why the game is so slow.

Still, the waves look good.
