Snapchat’s second hardware product is a $ 230 selfie drone

Snapchat has released a limited edition, flying selfie drone called Pixy, which will return you $ 230.

Revealed on the Snapchat website, a number of preset options will allow the drone to follow or orbit around you, or simply swim in place before landing in your hand after capturing the footage.

Everything saved via Pixy will be automatically transferred to your Snapchat memories, which will allow further editing if necessary.

The drone does not seem to have long-term availability, as it is only available until it is exhausted and is only available in the United States and France. Snapchat also warns you to check local drone regulation laws before buying Pixy.

This is only the second hardware that Snapchat has released in its 11-year history. The social media company previously released official smart sunglasses called Spectacles in 2016.

The glasses can record up to 10 seconds of frames and, like Pixy, send these frames directly to your Snapchat memories for publishing, sending or editing.

The Spectacles edition was also similar to Pixy, as it seemed more of an experiment for the company than a decisive step towards the hardware.

CEO Evan Spiegel said at the time that Snapchat would be administering a “slow approach to launching them” as “it’s up to us to see if that fits into people’s lives.”
