Environment Canada has issued a dozen snowfall warnings or winter storm watches for communities in southern British Columbia as well as the northeastern part of the province.
A Pacific frontal system is expected to move across interior British Columbia, bringing heavy snow and strong winds Friday and Saturday before tapering off Sunday.
Snowfall warnings have been issued for parts of the Boundary, East Columbia, Kootenay Lake, Shuswap, West Columbia and West Kootenay regions.
Winter storm watches have been issued for parts of the Fraser Canyon, Fraser Valley, Nicola Region, Okanagan Valley, Similkameen and South Thompson Regions.
The weather service says the storm is expected to bring up to 20 centimeters of snow.
Environment Canada is warning motorists that heavy snow is also expected in the coastal passes, which combined with gusty winds will create poor driving conditions.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system moving across northern BC is expected to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds to Pine Pass in northeastern BC by Saturday.
Arctic air is expected to flood the region on Sunday, bringing plummeting temperatures and winds.
