Terrified locals hear a “hysterical scream” as a boy is stabbed to a children’s party on a quiet street

A teenager was seriously injured after being stabbed when a dispute broke out on a child’s birthday.

Residents nearby heard screams and said they saw dozens of people on the street just before Saturday night’s attack.

A Baguli Lane resident, Sale, said a quarrel broke out in front of a house on nearby Royton Avenue, where a child’s birthday party was taking place.

The victim, believed to be in his early teens, was then stabbed in nearby Baguley Lane and left with a serious stab wound.

A neighbor, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he saw “at least 60 to 70 people” on Royton Avenue shortly before being stabbed at 10:25 p.m.

A man who asked not to be named said locals were “shocked” after being stabbed.

“There was a lot of noise,” he added. “It was a birthday party. I couldn’t hear the TV because it was so loud.

Janet Stonehauer, who lives in Baguli Lane, said she heard a group of girls “screaming” at the time of the stabbing, according to Manchester Evening News. Several of them shouted “no, no, no,” she explained.

“I just thought the young people were drinking, but when I looked out the window before going to bed, I saw the blue police tape on the other side of the road. I went outside and a policeman said there was an accident and someone was stabbed.

Another man said he heard the “hysterical” screams of a young girl behind his house before police came down. A section of Baguley Lane near the intersection with Norris Road and an alley connecting Baguley Lane and Royton Avenue were sealed by police for several hours, eyewitnesses said.

A man who asked not to be named said locals were “shocked” after the knife stabbing, which took place a short distance from the place where his father was killed five years ago. Mike Grimshaw, 34, died after being stabbed in the neck on Royton Avenue in July 2017.

He was later told at a trial at the Manchester Crown Court that he had been fatally stabbed moments after challenging his alleged killer for telling his partner to leave. He intervened to help his fiancée after Tyrone Patrick, who was considered a “major player” in the community, swore allegiance to his partner, the court heard.

Mr Patrick, who used cocaine and alcohol, challenged Mr Grimshaw to a fight and then stabbed him in the neck, cutting a major artery and puncturing his lung before fleeing the scene with two others, the jury said. Patrick was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum sentence of 26 years, nine months after he was found guilty of killing Mr Grimshaw.
