The bad guys keep the first place during the quiet box office weekend

As expected, the Bad Boys kept the lead this weekend, but it was a quiet time at the box office as we awaited Dr. Strange’s arrival in the Multiverse of Madness.

The bad guys earned $ 16.1 million over the weekend, a not-so-bad drop of 33% from the previous frame. Sunday looked like a $ 14 million weekend, but Sunday estimates are said to be better than expected for a healthier finale. To date, The Bad Boys have earned $ 44.4 million as they become a sleeping family hit at the box office.

Retains second place Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which won $ 11.3 million. This is a drop of 28% and proves that different styles of family movies can thrive in the box office, even in direct competition. Before the weekend, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 became the most lucrative adaptation of the video game at the national box office and there is still some gas in the tank. Sonic’s sequel has grossed $ 160.9 million to date in the domestic box office.

In third place is Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which had better holdings over the third weekend with a 41% drop to $ 8.3 million. Although the detention was better this weekend, Dumbledore’s Secrets continues to be a disappointment at the National Box Office. The film has grossed $ 79.5 million to date, far from the $ 200 million budget.

Northman retains fourth place with revenue of $ 6.3 million, down 49 percent from the previous weekend. The good news is that the drop was just over 50% this weekend, but the problem is that the opening from last weekend was so soft that it’s hard to recover from it. To date, The Northerner has earned $ 22.8 million at the domestic box office.

Rounding out the top five, as I predicted, is Everything Everywhere and All, which grossed $ 5.5 million this weekend. This is actually a 2% increase over the previous weekend, as the A24 version continues to be successful. Word of mouth is gradual and continues to flourish. I suspect that the film will continue to entice movie buffs and will become a real hit for the studio. To date, the multiverse sensation has raised $ 35.4 million at the domestic box office.
