The body of a 24-year-old woman who disappeared in Vancouver since 2020 – BC

The search for a woman who went missing in the fall of 2020 ended in tragedy, Vancouver police have confirmed.

Chelsea Purman, 24, was last seen on September 6, 2020 by a family member on Granville Street. Two days later, she was reported missing.

Police said on Friday that her remains were found in front of an empty house near Granville Street and West 37 Avenue in the Shawnee neighborhood on April 22nd.

“This is not the result that someone wanted. “We have always hoped that Chelsea will be found alive and we sympathize with all those who knew Chelsea, loved her and hoped that she would return home safely,” said the sergeant. Steve Addison said in a press release.

Investigators believe Purman may have died at the property the night she disappeared or shortly thereafter, but remained undiscovered because the house has been empty for years, police said, adding that her death was not considered suspicious.

Officers briefed her family when her remains were found, and met with some relatives on Friday to brief them and keep them informed of the investigation.
