Today, about 100 people attended the launch of a balloon in memory of Michael, who would soon become a father, at the site of the tragic accident. Gold, blue and heart-shaped balloons were released into the sky while loved ones played songs in the background.
A poster was placed on one of the covers next to the Internet cafe where Michael was found. It read “Rest in peace Michael Tuhi. Loved and missed a lot xxx.”
Some people also wore T-shirts in honor of Michael with a photo of the 18-year-old. One was worn by a student with the caption “Justice for Uncle Michael Tuhi. We love and miss you.”

Michael’s family paid tribute to their “benevolent, caring and brave” son today and called on people with any information about his death to come out. The bow reads: “My son Michael Tuhi was what you would describe as a handsome, well-mannered, calm young man who will soon become the father of a young boy who is due to be born in just three months.
“Michael was academically smart at school and left Everton’s free school at 17 to continue working with his sons-in-law in the family business. Michael loved going to the gym and going on long bike rides with family and friends.
“Michael was always doing something for someone, be it torturing his sisters or annoying his nephews, he was such a character, but he never had a bad bone in his body and he never had a bad word to say about anyone.
“Michael was adored by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. His cheeky smile would light up any room, he was kind, caring, brave and adored his sisters, and he was a brilliant uncle.
“Michael loved his mother and was never far from home, he was very much for his family, so when he found out he was going to be a father, he was very happy. Michael and his partner had only recently moved into a new house together to start their own family, he was so excited about what their future had in store, Michael knew he would be a boy before anyone else.

“No one would say a bad word about Michael, so when the family got a phone call to say that Michael was brutally attacked, they had no idea who would be so cruel and that the story would be repeated over another young innocent young boy. In 2003, Michael’s young cousin Johnny Delaney was attacked in Ellesmere Port and left to die days before his 16th birthday.
“Michael comes from a beautiful host family that would welcome everyone and do anything for everyone in need. Please ask the family if anyone knows or hears about anything related to Michael’s tragic death, please come out and prevent this from happening to someone else’s innocent child.
“The life of a boy full of potential and grace has been taken from him and his family is devastated, which may be responsible for such a horrific act. Rest in heaven, our beautiful boy. We will miss your cheeky face. Forever young, Good night, God bless, our beautiful boy Michael Tuhi. “
