Two brothers who ambushed a man and stabbed him to death on a street in Birmingham have been sentenced to life in prison. After stabbing Amin Talea twice in the apparently unmotivated “planned and pre-arranged” attack, they pursued him before he collapsed.
Mohamed Farouk, who was sentenced to life in prison, must serve at least 24 years in prison before being considered on parole, while Ridhvaan Farooq, who was sentenced to life in prison, must also serve at least 24 years.
19-year-old Ridhvaan from Shanley Lane, Northfield, and Mohammed, 21-year-old from Billbrook Grove, Bartley Green, denied the murder but were found guilty after a trial at the Royal Court in Birmingham. Mr Talea was found fatally wounded by two passers-by at Middleton Hall Road, Kings Norton at around 9pm on October 1 last year.

The brother had taken a taxi from Risborough House in Tears Green to Overbury Road before stalking and coming out of the side of a building, attacking Mr. Talea in front of his Longfellow Road apartment as he went to meet two of his friends parked in Volkswagen Golf.
After the attack, 20-year-old Talea sought help from two strangers who saw him bleeding from a significant abdominal wound. One of the men called 999.
In sentencing, Judge Melbourne Inman QC said: “Amen was only 20 when he killed him. He had his life ahead of him. He was loved and well thought of by those who knew him

“No one could be moved by Amin’s mother’s remarks, nor could she doubt the depth of her grief and the devastating effect of her son’s loss. It was a planned and pre-arranged attack.
“You took a taxi to the area where Amin lived. You were armed with at least one knife. Much of what happened was filmed by CCTV cameras. Apparently you expected him to leave at about this time. Amin left the apartments and walked away. to the road.
“You two immediately ran away from a tree and attacked him. Amin managed to escape up the road, but you chased him.
“Amin was stabbed twice during the attack. A blow penetrated his abdomen and cut a main vein that carried blood to his heart.
“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services and emergency surgery at the hospital, it was not possible to save Amin’s life.

“Only you know which of you inflicted the fatal stab wound. Evidence shows that the attack lasted only seconds. It is also clear that you stabbed him twice, and you both chased him to inflict even more damage if you caught him.
“Only you know why you attacked Amin Talea. The following Sunday, you Ridhvaan Farouk had asked someone you knew if she would be willing to take a gun for you from Liverpool. She refused.
“It is clear that you were preparing for the attack days before it happened. You both tried to hide your identity by wearing hoods, and one of you was wearing a balaclava.
“It was an early evening attack in a residential area of the city. You threw away evidence.
“The knife or knives were never found, nor was the jacket you wore with Mohamed Farouk. None of you have shown any remorse for what you did.
He said he could not be sure that they intended to kill the victim and that none of them had previous convictions.
