Earlier, NASA released a sample of this type of image for the NIRCam instrument. NIRCam, Webb’s main camera, was used to initially focus on the observatory’s optics. When that work was done, the engineers had to work through each of the other three tools to confirm that NIRCam alignment worked just as well for them.
