The leak of Google Pixel Fold suggests a smaller rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 4

Rita El Huri / Android Authority

TL; DR

  • Google Pixel Fold is said to have a smaller smartphone display than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4.
  • This suggests that the Google folding device will be located between the Samsung and Oppo devices in terms of size.

We’ve heard a lot about Google Pixel Fold in the last year, as it was initially rumored that the device will be released in 2021. This has obviously never happened, but the rumor mill continues to operate this week.

In particular, he argues that you can expect a Google device to have a 5.8-inch display with a wider aspect ratio than the 6.19-inch panel of Fold 4. Young adds that both devices should have foldable screens with similar size.

In other words, it looks like the foldable Google will sit between the compact Oppo Find N and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 when it comes to size (at least when closed). This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the Pixel Fold is stiffer than Samsung’s foldable, as the tuning animations spotted by 9to5Google earlier this year also suggest that.

Young later added in response to a user that Pixel Fold is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022, although he told CNET that a launch in 2023 is possible.

The analyst has great experience when it comes to display leaks, although we would accept any other statement with a good pinch of salt. But it certainly sounds like Google’s foldable is still under development and is on the way at some point.
