In recent years, the NFL has made several attempts to falsify the Pro Bowl, changing the venue from Hawaii to Florida in Las Vegas. Last year’s Pro Bowl included several changes to the rules in hopes of piquing fan interest. Despite these changes, the game of the league stars is struggling to gain a lot of traction, as players and fans would obviously prefer to do something other than watch a game at half speed without anything at stake.

The NFL is currently discussing ways to improve Pro Bowl Week, which includes possibly eliminating the traditional game, according to NFL media. The league is looking for alternative ways to show the best players in the NFL.

“The game (Pro Bowl) is not working,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday after the owners’ meeting in Atlanta. “We have to find another way to celebrate the players.”

With the exception of 2020 (due to COVID-19), the Pro Bowl has been played every year since 1950. And while the game has attracted considerable interest from fans, television ratings have plummeted in recent years. Less than 7 million people joined to watch last year’s Pro Bowl, a 41-35 victory for the AFC.

If the league abolishes the traditional game, it will be interesting to see what alternative options will be announced by the league. The NFL may also make changes to the annual Pro Bowl Skills Challenge, which is usually held during game week.
