Prime Minister Doug Ford says lieutenant governor. Elizabeth Dowdswell accepted his advice to dissolve the provincial parliament and the election campaign will officially begin on Wednesday.
The vice-governor also called for orders to be issued for Wednesday’s election and for June 2 to be officially set as an election date.
Politicians have been campaigning unofficially for weeks, with two of the three major parties launching their platforms.
On his way to meet with Dowdswell, Ford said people would have a “very clear choice” on June 2.
He says the Tories are “creating prosperity” by building bridges, roads and highways and returning thousands of jobs to the automotive sector.
Polls to date have shown that progressive conservatives are ready for re-election, with third liberals potentially ahead of the NDP to form the official opposition.
This is an evolving story. More information is coming.
