The province is launching a plan for fourth doses of the COVID vaccine

Newfoundland and Labrador have released plans for a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The chief medical officer for health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says the second booster doses will be offered to people aged 70 and over, those in municipal conditions for the elderly, and anyone aged 18 or over who identifies as indigenous. population or living in an isolated local community.

She says people in these groups are at increased risk of serious illness and will be eligible for a second reinforcement 20 weeks after the first.

Fitzgerald says the RHA will start offering a second booster to those in shared housing “in the near future”, when they are largely completed, appointments-based clinics will open. She says people can book appointments online or by phone from April 25.

She also says that people in the 12-17 age group will be eligible for their first boosters on April 25th. People in this age group will be eligible for a booster 22 weeks after the second dose.

Dr Fitzgerald, meanwhile, says public health has decided to disguise itself in the K-12 school system after the Easter holidays.
