Another significant increase in some fuel prices today, which pushes many fuel prices well above thresholds that many people never expected to see, with more increases tomorrow when the new carbon tax rates take effect.
Diesel on the island has risen by another 17 cents per liter, while diesel in Labrador has risen by 18 cents. This brings the price of diesel even closer to $ 3.00 per liter on the island and raises the price above $ 3.00 per liter in some parts of Labrador.
Furnace oil rose by nearly 15 cents per liter. This leads to the price of furnace oil above $ 2.00 per liter.
Stove oil also rose in double digits to 14.62 cents on the island and 15.64 cents in Labrador.
Meanwhile, another increase is expected tomorrow with the introduction of a new carbon tax rate on petrol and diesel in all parts of the province. Gasoline will increase by 2.6 cents per liter from midnight tonight, while diesel will have a new increase of 3.1 cents in carbon taxes.
This leads to a total carbon tax on petrol of up to 11.05 cents per liter and 13.41 cents on diesel.
