The puppy, stolen by the SPCA in Pennsylvania, returned to the Philadelphia Police Department

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – A puppy stolen from the Pennsylvania SPCA headquarters in Philadelphia has been housed, according to officials.

The PSPCA said the surveillance video filmed a woman stealing a Wendy, mixed white terrier, from her kennel around 2:19 p.m. Sunday. Then he put it in his bag before leaving the building.

“It’s horrifying,” said Gillian Kocher of the SPCA in Pennsylvania. “I think what happened here is also very flashy. There is no doubt that the intention was to take this animal and leave the building with it. “

Kocher said one of the worst parts of this alleged crime is that Wendy has already been adopted. She says there was a piece of paper on the kennel that clearly said that.

“It’s a theft,” Kocher said. “They took an animal that is considered property in Pennsylvania from our facility. This animal was waiting to be changed and was already adopted, so there was a family waiting for it.”

At about 9 p.m., PSPCA officials announced that the dog had been handed over to the Philadelphia Police Department, but the alleged hunters were still at large.

Kocher said the PSPCA microchip confirmed that the puppy was indeed Wendy and in good health.

She said the PSPCA has numerous clues and plans to fully prosecute individuals.
