The RCMP accuses a Windsor man of participating in or contributing to a terrorist group

Windsor, Ont. The man is accused of participating in or assisting in the activities of a terrorist group, according to the RCMP.

Between 12 February 2021 and 20 May 2021, the RCMP said that one person had committed “various hate crimes in the Windsor area”.

An investigation by the RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) found that an individual had applied online to join a listed terrorist organization, the Atomwaffen Division (also known as the National Socialist Order), and offered his skills and a commitment to do things for this listed terrorist entity.

“The success of this investigation is due directly to the strength of our partnerships in police and intelligence. Together with our partners, the Windsor Police Department and OPP PATS [Provincial Anti-Terrorism Section]”Said Inspector Cheryl Brunet-Smith of the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team.

Seth Bertrand, 19, is accused of “participating in or contributing, directly or indirectly, to any activity of a terrorist group in order to enhance the ability of any terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity, contrary to section 83.18 (1) of The Penal Code. “
