The search for a fisherman from Nova Scotia who jumped into the river continues

WEYMOUTH FALLS, NS –

The search for a missing 48-year-old lobster fisherman who jumped into a river in Digby County continues on Friday.

Graham Cromwell of Weymouth Falls, NS, was last seen by fisheries inspectors jump into the Sisibu River on Wednesday night.

A spokesman for the Fisheries Department said Cromwell and three others had been fishing near Weymouth Falls around 9pm and were said to have fled when two fishermen tried to carry out an inspection.

After the four fishermen escaped on foot and jumped into the water, inspectors found three of them, but not Cromwell.

Officials say there is no evidence to suggest that the individuals were involved in rights-based fishing.

Digby RCMP manages the search with the support of the Dog Police Service, the Air Force, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, the Department of Lands and Forests and Nova Scotia Power.
