The Toronto doctor has been appointed the new Scientific Director of the COVID Expert Advisory Group

The COVID-19 Expert Advisory Group in Ontario has nominated a Toronto doctor as the new scientific director.

Ontario Public Health, which is now monitoring the group, says Dr. Fahad Razak will replace Dr. Peter Juni in his role at the COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Board in Ontario.

Razak is an intern at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and an assistant professor at the University of Toronto, with research experience in global health and health services.

He has been a member of the scientific chart since its founding and Public Health Ontario says it has participated in long-term COVID reports, vaccines, hospital visitor policies and therapists.

Razak said in a Twitter post that he hopes science will continue to help determine the best way forward for the next phase of the pandemic.

The Public Health Agency announced last month that it would start monitoring the expert group and said it was developing new tasks so that the scientific table could respond to future public health emergencies if necessary.
