DJ Tim Westwood “withdrew from his show” at Capital Xtra until the next order, after accusations of sexual misconduct against him by many women.
A day after a former BBC Radio 1 DJ was accused by seven women of abusing his position in the music industry to take advantage of them, a spokesman for Global Radio, the parent company of Capital Xtra, said the station and DJ were splitting up. .
A Global spokesman said: “Following the recent allegations, Tim Westwood withdrew from the show until further notice.”
On Tuesday, three women accused the DJ of opportunistic and predatory sexual behavior, while four others claimed to have been touched by him at events following a joint investigation by the Guardian and BBC News.
The women were in their late teens or early 20s when they said the incidents had happened. The earliest alleged incident occurred in 1992 and the last in 2017.
Westwood categorically denied all charges. A spokesman said they were completely fake and denied it altogether.
