Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has agreed to join Fox Sports as a leading analyst at the National Football League on television when his career ended, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said Tuesday.
“We are delighted that Tom is committed to joining the Fox team and we wish him all the best for the upcoming season,” Murdoch said in a tweet. He also announced the news during Fox’s earnings conference.
Brady responded on Twitter, stressing that his gaming days were not over.
“Excited but very unfinished field work with @Buccaneers #LFG,” Brady wrote on Twitter.
Brady, who turns 45 in August, has agreed to a “long-term” deal with Fox and will provide colorful commentary on the games, named by game’s lead announcer Kevin Burkhard, Fox said. He also agreed to “serve as an ambassador for us, especially in terms of customers and promotional initiatives,” the company said.
Brady briefly announced his retirement earlier this year, only to change his mind 40 days later. He did not say how long he planned to continue playing in the NFL. Brady won seven Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and the Buccaneers.
Longtime Fox lead duo Joe Buck and Troy Aikman said earlier this year that they were leaving the network to join ESPN as new announcers for Monday Night Football TV.
There was widespread turnover among broadcasters this NFL off-season, with Al Michaels leaving NBC Sunday Night Football to call Thursday night’s Amazon Prime Video, Mike Tirico, who left ESPN in 2016 for NBC. succeeding Michaels, and Burkhard replacing the leading Buck as Fox. voice.
