Eric ten Haag faces first challenge for Manchester United this weekend
There is still a sense of mystery surrounding the appointment of Eric ten Haag as the next manager of Manchester United, although in the next few weeks we need to get a much clearer idea of what exactly he will bring to Old Trafford.
The search for a new manager officially ended on Thursday, when United announced that the 52-year-old would take over at the end of the season, although club sources admitted long before the official statement that the deal was in fact concluded. United postponed the announcement of Ten Hag until the final of the Dutch Cup last weekend to ensure that this is not an unnecessary distraction from the task.
After a 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven, a retrospective view would suggest that it might have been wise to get out of the way, potentially stimulating the country even more to ensure that their manager gets the perfect send-off. This weekend, Ten Haag will not be able to ignore the upcoming career change, even if he remains modest when the media asks him about his upcoming move to England.
