Mitch McConnell explains why I will still support Donald Trump

Mr Trump’s legal woes, meanwhile, continue as New York Attorney General Leticia James has filed a motion for contempt of court for failing to comply with a court order to hand over documents in her ongoing civil investigation. Her office asks him to pay $ 10,000 a day until he hands over the paperwork.
In a statement, Mr Trump denounced Ms James as an “absolute violation” of his civil rights and called her a “Democratic Party operative in political persecution”.
Meanwhile, investigators in the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal investigation into Mr. Trump’s business relationship are reviewing “unexplored evidence.”
In other legal news, a North Carolina man became the second member of the Proud Boys extremist group to plead guilty to plotting in the Capitol riot. He will cooperate with prosecutors against other members of the group.

The State Department said it was unable to compile a full and accurate account of the gifts presented to former President Donald Trump and other US government officials during the last year of Trump’s rule, citing missing White House figures.

Proud Boys member pleads guilty to Capitol assault plan, will cooperate against others
A North Carolina man became the second member of the extremist group Proud Boys on Friday to plead guilty to conspiracy with other members of the group to prevent Congress from officially certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
Charles Donohaw, 34, pleaded guilty while appearing in a federal court in Washington on charges of conspiracy to obstruct official proceedings and assault or obstruction of federal officials. His plea agreement includes a provision for co-operation in ongoing Justice Department cases against other members of the Proud Boys.
Federal sentencing guidelines provide for imprisonment from about six to seven years, although the terms of his sentence will be determined by a federal judge.
