Two children killed, baby seriously injured in Lake County fire crash, soldiers say – WFTV

LAKE KANT, Florida – Troops are investigating a deadly crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in Lake County.

Update at 22:40:

Investigators said a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old died and one of them was ejected by a Kia sedan that crashed into an SR-46 pickup truck.

Police said a witness told them that the driver of the sedan was passing other traffic in a forbidden lane when he collided head-on with another moving in the other direction.

A 1-year-old child in the sedan was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital with serious injuries, servicemen said.

SR46 was stopped in Wekiva in both directions, severe accident / fire with deaths. It will probably be closed for a few hours.

Police said it was unclear whether any of the children were detained during the crash.

The pickup truck overturned and caught fire from the crash, according to a report.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck and four passengers managed to get out of the truck.

Troops said the crash was still under investigation and charges were pending.

Florida troops and Lake County lawmakers responded to a deadly crash on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a crash of two vehicles occurred around 5:39 p.m. near State Road 46 and Wekiva River Road.

Two people died in the crash and three were taken to hospital for treatment, servicemen said.

Police said one of the victims of the crash was taken to hospital by helicopter.

Deputies said the crash also caused a fire.

SR-46 will be stopped for several hours while the crash is being investigated.
