Two of the victims who were targeted in a series of violent home invasions in Markham have spoken about their ordeal.
“They were all carrying rifles and guns and just saying ‘where’s the money, where’s the money,'” one of the young men told CTV News Toronto.
The two young men live in one of six homes in Markham that police say have been the target of a recent string of home invasions.
CTV News Toronto is not releasing their identities because the two victims say they are concerned for their safety.
Four masked men broke into their home. On Friday morning, two men were shot, one fatally, in a standoff with police on Eyer Drive near Calvert Road, and another man and woman were taken into custody.

York Regional Police say the incident is related to the investigation of mass home invasions.
The victims say the four men who entered their home split up to take over.
At first, one resident says, the banging on the back door sounded like part of the rainforest white noise he used as a sleep aid.
Then the glass of the sliding door broke.
Two men came into his room, one armed with a gun and the other with a hatchet.
The other victim who spoke to CTV News Toronto said a third man came into his room, taking everything from his shoes to his headphones.
“It all happened so quickly in such an unfortunate way that we are very horrified,” he said.
A fourth man targeted the other occupants of the house, they said.
Now the household is adding extra security, and the two admit it took them a while to process what happened to them.
“We’re staying up a lot later and sleeping a little less just to make sure everyone else in the house is safe,” one of them said.
They are literally picking up the pieces, but – like their glass door – they say the illusion of safety is shattered.
