Two men died after a terrible accident between a car and a motorcycle in Oldham

Two men died in a terrible accident in Oldham. The victims, aged 20 and 21, were traveling in an off-road motorcycle that crashed into a Ford Kuga.

High Barn Street in Royton was cut off for most of Good Friday after police were called shortly after 11 a.m. to signal a crash between a Suzuki motorcycle and a 4×4.

Despite all the efforts of paramedics, the driver and passenger of the motorcycle – men aged 20 and 21, respectively – were seriously injured and unfortunately died on the spot.

Their families are informed and supported by specialists. The driver of the Ford remained on the scene and assisted the department in investigating serious clashes between the forces and their investigations.

No one has been arrested and anyone who has witnessed the clash or who may have driven through the area and has camera footage has been called to police.

The collision sparked a backlash of ambulances, including an air ambulance, a road ambulance and a number of police cars. Greater Manchester fire crews were also present at the scene.

Police remained at the scene on High Barn Street until about 2 p.m. this afternoon. Earlier today, several police officers could be seen working in a small area protected by fire screens and emergency vehicles.

One woman told the MEN: “I saw him on Facebook seconds after it happened. One woman said there was a crash and the helicopter was coming, so there are a lot of people looking for it.

Another said: “I just passed about an hour ago and saw the crash. It looks pretty bad, I’m sorry for everyone involved.”

Sergeant Phil Shaw of our Serious Clashes Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are on the families of the two young men who tragically lost their lives today after this horrific incident.

“We are doing what we can to find out how this clash came about, to ensure that the families of the two victims get the answers they need, and our specialists offer them support in this devastating moment.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 11:00 this morning (Friday, April 15) we received a report of a road collision involving a motorcycle and a car on High Barn, Royton.

“A Chaderton fire truck is present at the site where firefighters are working with colleagues from Greater Manchester and Northwest Ambulance Police.”
