Rocky Mount, North Carolina – A woman is dead and a restaurant employee is rushed to hospital after a shooting at Chili’s restaurant.
She is the fourth victim of gun violence in the city this week alone.
Shortly after 19:00 the restaurant was full. Witnesses told WRAL News that the shooting took place at the bar.
And seconds later, people were running into the kitchen, just looking for a place to hide.
Rocky Mount chief Robert Hassel said it all started at Chili’s on North Wesleyan Boulevard, with two women who know each other.
One woman shot the other.
“And one round really hit one of the restaurant staff,” Hassel said.
Police are searching for the shooter on Friday night.
The shooting came on the same day that Chief Hassel and Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson issued statements targeting the recent gun violence.
Mayor Roberson wrote that the shootings were “not accidental” and “detectives are tracking all traces.”
Mayor Roberson and Chief Hassel plan to hold a press conference soon to tell the community exactly what the police are doing to combat gun violence.
