U.S. Capitol police arrest man with fake badge, bulletproof vest and ammunition

Police arrested Jerome Felipe of Michigan around 5 a.m. ET on Friday, the agency said. Felipe parked his 2017 Dodge Challenger near the Capitol and allowed officers to search it, according to a USCP statement.

Officers found “a BB rifle, two ballistic vests, several high-capacity cartridges and other ammunition” in the car, the statement said.

Felipe, 53, presented employees with a fake badge with the words “Interpol Department” printed on it and made a statement that he was a criminal investigator at the agency, the USCP reported.

The incident is being further investigated.
